Solomento are a UK band playing an original fusion of European, Caribbean and East African sounds.
Solomento (pronounced Sol-o-mento) perform their acoustic set using traditional Cuban and Mento instrumentation with baselines driven by double bass and or Marimbula.
We have a variable line up and some very special guests. Many of us have been playing together for up to 30 years. Between us we represent many of the classic Ska Reggae and Dub bands of the 80’s , 90’s & 00’s.
We have recently started working with Wanje Luckie. Now we are mixing up big East African sounds and rhythms with a Latin – Ska backbeat.
This group represents what we like to play when we get together for regular jams. We put our musical minds together and this is what comes out. It represents who we are now and where we have arrived with our respective sounds.
